The quest To Sorrows Furnace has like 5 separate tasks. I finished the first one, to help Galen Trask, and the quest log was updated with that task crossed out. The next task is to help Killroy. I logged out after doing the first task.

Then logged back in later to resume quest, and quest log still shows the first task crossed out, and the Killroy task is next. But when I leave Deldrimor War Camp, the direction arrow on the map is pointed to Galen, outside of the furnace. So I click on Galen, he pops up dialog where 'To Sorrows Furnace' has exclamation point, so click that to accept, and the map arrow now points toward Sorrows Furnace. The quest log still looks good, with the first task crossed out, and Killroy next. I go inside the furnace, and again, the directional arrow is pointed toward Galen, now just inside the furnace entrance. Click on him, and he's got a new quest 'Summit Slaves'. don't want that one, so cancel, and 'To Sorrows Furnace' quest direction arrow now points outside SF. ??

I go back outside, and arrow is pointing to Galen again.

How do I get out of this circle?

You can do any of the Sorrow's Furnace quests as many times as you like. Just look around for a different person to do next. Sometimes the quest arrow is bugged.

If you talk to the dwarven prospector, right outside the war camp, you can ask him for directions to one of the 4 guys, it's this guy that your pointer will direct you towards. Simply go ask for dirs to Kilroy and you'll get a pointer to him.
